High Velocity Water Spray System is a specially designed system for oil fires with an entirely unique principle of fire extinguishment. It is employed to bring about a fundamental change in the nature of inflammable liquid, which is temporarily converted into an emulsion which cannot burn.

All oils are water repellent and they cannot be wetted. Therefore, the cooling action of water applied in form of jet is negligible. A low pressure spray also has a minimal cooling effect on an oil fire.

High Velocity Water Spray System is the only satisfactory method so far discovered for extinguishing an oil fire with water. A special nozzle, called projector is employed here to discharge a cone of water in the form of evenly distributed broken streams of high velocity and high momentum. The rapid movement of broken streams of water impacts the oil to break into tiny globules to form an emulsion with water which cannot burn.

High Velocity Water Spray System has been installed extensively to protect paint and varnish processes, vegetable oil extraction plants, oil refineries and water proofing factories. The greatest scope of application is in Electricity Generating Stations and Distribution Stations for the protection of oil filled transformers & switch-gear and the lubricating system of turbo alternators.
